1869 - Income tax was imposed in India.
1878 - Calcutta Museum was opened for public.
1882 - Postal savings bank system started.
1889 - Hindu became a daily.
1914 - Telugu daily Andhra Patrika was started from Madras by Kasinadhuni Nageswara Rao
1930 - Minimum age for girls was fixed as 15 and for boys it was 18.
1933 - Indian Air Force was started.
1935 - RBI was established.
1936 - Orissa Province was started by British India Governments.
1963 - Home Ministry of India gave a resolution giving the name Central Bureau of Investigation to Delhi Special Police Establishment which was established to probe corruption cases against Central Government employees.

1978 - Sixth Five year plan put into implementation.
1995 - AAI was established.
2015 - The expanded capacity of Rourkela Steel Plant inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. The capacity was increased by 2.5 million tons to 4.5 million tons per year.

1621 - Guru Teg Bahadur Singh
Guru Tegh Bahadur was the son of the Sixth guru, Guru Hargobind. The Sixth guru, Guru Hargobind had one daughter Bibi Viro and five sons: Baba Gurditta, Suraj Mal, Ani Rai, Atal Rai and Tyaga Mal. Tyaga Mal was born in Amritsar in the early hours of 1 April 1621. He came to be known by the name Tegh Bahadur (Mighty Of The Sword), given to him by Guru Hargobind after he had shown his valour in a battle against the Mughals.

1889 - Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar - Founder RSS - Striving for Unity in Diversity of Hindus
Dr. Keshav Baliram Hegdewar strongly believed that the Hindu Society, due to its internal caste, region and language differences as well as differences in the modes of worship; suffered untold losses and has been enslaved under foreign rule for over a millennium. In an attempt to substantiate and propagate his belief, he established the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1925 for the unity of the Hindus, and strived for its expansion.
