Kasturba Gandhi

Kasturba Gandhi (1869-1944)

Kasturbai was born in 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat. Her father was a well-to-do businessman.

Her public life began after she joined her husband, Mohandas Gandhi in South Africa in 1897. From 1904-14, she was the heart and soul of the 'Phoenix Settlement' and from Kasturbai she became Kasturba-mother to the inmates, a role she continued at Kochnab, Sabarmati, and Sevagram Ashrams in India.

On 22 February 1944 on Mahashivratri Day she breathed her last on the lap of her beloved husband.

Jaimini Roy

Birth Date: 11 April 1887

He was honoured with the State award of Padma Bhushan in 1955.

Ramnath Krishnan, was born On 11-April-1937 at  Boothapandi Village, Nagercoil, India . Ramanathan Krishnan was among the world's leading tennis players in the 1950s and 1960s. He was twice a semifinalist at Wimbledon in 1960 and 1961.

She was born as Rohini Oak on Apr 11, 1955 in Delhi. After ending her schooling from Renuka Swaroop Memorial Girls High School, Pune in 1971 Rohini inscribed her name in National School of Drama (NSD),

Rohini married Jayadev Hattangadi who was her classmate in National School of Drama.

Along with husband Jayadev, Rohini began her own Marathi theater group named Awishkar. For her performance in a maneuver called Changuna, she received the Best Actress Award during the Maharashtra State Drama Festival.

In 1978 she made her movie debut with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan by Saeed Akhtar Mirza. Then she acted in movies like Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai (1980) and Naseeruddin Shah and Smita Patil starring Chakra (1981).
