11 May - Day in History of India and Importance

National Technology Day

Celebration of Hydrogen Bomb Test by India.

On 11th May, 1998 India achieved a major technological breakthrough by successfully carrying out nuclear tests at Pokhran.

Also first, indigenous aircraft "Hansa-3" was test flown at Bangalore on this day and India also performed successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day.

Considering above technological achievements on a particular date i.e. 11th May, the day of 11th May was chosen to be commemorated as National Technology Day.

1987 - President's Rule imposed in Punjab

1993 - Toy factory fire kills more than 200 in Bangalore

1998 - Pokhran nuclear fusion test successfully done. Test firing of Trishul missile. Certification flight of Hansa-3, indigenous first all composite 2 seater plane.

1999 - Verdict on Rajiv Gandhi assasination case
